Online Advantages

As we move beyond the trauma of immediate and absolute isolation, many parents find that the online format offers many of the advantages that we desire from our brick-and-mortar experiences. Here is just a brief partial list:

• Smaller classrooms- talented teachers have been pushed to the limit, as budget shortfalls have pushed resources and supplies down and class sizes up. The national average elementary school class size is now 25, up 20% from the first decade of the 21st century (DeGeurin, 2019).

• Better Ratios- online classrooms have the potential to be smaller.

• Specialization- no longer tethered to a specific address, talented teachers will earn more by hiring out to “different” locations. This will improve teacher motivation, individualized student attention, and other aspects of classroom instruction.

• Early detection- LD conditions are sometimes hard to diagnose. The use of technology will help school districts with limited staffing for special needs detection.

However, the biggest advantage at this early stage is parent and caregiver participation. At Figital, your voice matters!
